Jason Herzog
Co-chairperson and Chief Executive Officer

Jason is the co-chairperson and chief executive officer of Averhealth, where he aims to help people overcome the disease of addiction and achieve lasting sobriety. After spending more than a decade advising c-suite executives across all industries, Jason knows the combination of a clear mission and disruptive innovation fosters growth, a rewarding environment for all stakeholders, and exceptional services. 

Partnering with a dedicated team, Jason has helped Averhealth expand from a single state to a national footprint, bringing Averhealth’s life saving care to hundreds of local communities. In prior experiences, Jason helped formulate winning strategies for leading technology, healthcare, business services, consumer products, and industrial companies. Jason holds an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in economics and business administration from Rockhurst University. Jason lives in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and two children.

Jeff Herr
Co-chairperson and Chief Executive Officer

Jeff is a member of the leadership team that established Averhealth and the vision for the company’s life saving care delivery model. As co-chairperson and chief information officer, Jeff’s primary goal is the development of innovative technology solutions that empower the Averhealth team, providers, and insurance partners to deliver even better outcomes for our collective patient populations and the communities we serve.

Jeff led the creation of aversys, which is an industry redefining integration of patient, care team, laboratory, patient service center, and operations management into a single web-based technology platform. Prior to cofounding Averhealth, Jeff had the good fortune to advise a multitude of very talented executive teams on initiatives related to building, funding, and growing successful businesses in various industries, such as healthcare, information technology, and business services. Jeff earned a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University and a bachelor of arts in political science and economics from North Carolina State University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute. Jeff works in Richmond, VA and lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife, Morgan, and two sons, Mason and Emerson.

Dominique Delagnes
Chief Operations Officer

Dominique Delagnes is the Chief Operating Officer for Averhealth. She leads a nationwide team of managers and clinicians who ensure things run smoothly at Averhealth’s laboratory in St. Louis, Missouri and patient service centers across the U.S.

Dominique is no stranger to substance use testing and toxicology, having spent 15 years in senior leadership roles in operations, account management, and customer service for companies like Alere Toxicology and PharmaChem. Dominique grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She moved to the East Coast to attend Boston University where she was a proud member of the BU women’s rowing team. She received her Bachelor of Science in business administration with a concentration in operations management.

David Flood
Chief Financial Officer

David Flood is the Chief Financial Officer for Averhealth.  David joins Averhealth with more than 25 years of experience spanning multiple financial functions, several industries, and various geographies (including international experience).  He has had proven success at small, medium, and large capitalization companies working as part of small or large finance teams.

Most recently, David led the treasury and risk management team of Ingevity Corporation (specialty chemicals) and prior to that led the financial, planning and analysis (FP&A) group at MeadWestvaco Corporation (paper and packaging). Additionally, while at MeadWestvaco, David served at various times as the European Treasurer (based in Geneva, Switzerland), Assistant Treasurer and Director of Corporate Strategy. Prior to joining MeadWestvaco, David spent his early career in New York City working at Hess Corporation (oil & gas) as the Director of Investor Relations and Manager of Capital Markets and for Daimler-Benz AG (automotive) as its manager of treasury operations. David received his MBA from the Stern School of Business (New York University) and his BS from The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania). David lives in Midlothian, Virginia with his wife and three children.

Justin Manni
Director of Business Development

Justin Manni is Averhealth’s director of business development where he oversees a team of regional business development managers across the U.S. His focus involves treatment courts, probation, and community-based corrections. Justin’s unique judicial knowledge helps Averhealth’s team develop innovative ways to help new customers cut costs, decrease positive rates and improve outcomes within their courts. Before joining Averhealth in 2014, Justin worked for 10 years in medical device sales and banking.

Justin is an active member and corporate partner with the American Probation and Parole Association. He’s certified in multiple neurological implant training techniques and dynamic psychological sales. Justin studied criminal justice at Rutgers University, Newark. When he’s not out selling for Averhealth, you will probably find Justin rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and cooking for friends and family.

Jacquie Sheehey
Director of Marketing & Partner Relations

Jacquie Sheehey serves as the Director of Marketing and Partner Relations for Averhealth. She brings 25 years of experience to Averhealth in the drug and alcohol testing industry working primarily with the criminal justice field specific to probation departments and treatment courts.  Her areas of expertise are in management and sales/marketing. For Averhealth, Jacquie is responsible for all digital marketing strategy, website development, customer retention and utilization. Her role as head of partner relations encompasses strategic partnerships with Medicaid and managed care organizations as well as national associations such as APPA, NADCP, and ASAM.

Prior to Averhealth, Jacquie has worked in management level positions for Smart Start, Varian, and Alcohol Monitoring Systems. She was the founder of Price Daniel Communications, a marketing communications firm where she managed contracts for the National Association of Drug Court Professionals (NADCP) and other federal agencies. Jacquie served on the Board of the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association (DATIA) for two terms and is a member of the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA). Jacquie holds a BS degree from The Ohio State University. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, Dan, and son, Connor, as well as her two yellow labs, Buckley and Bella. In addition, she enjoys yoga, cycling, and traveling.

Vickie Marandina, SPHR, SHRM-SCP
Director of Human Resources

As Director of Human Resources, Vickie is responsible for overseeing the human resources function at Averhealth. In this role, she drives the company’s human capital management strategy – including talent acquisition and development, compensation and benefits, and employee engagement programs – to support the company’s continued growth, innovation, and profitability.  Vickie’s passion is working with start-up companies and playing a strategic role in their successful growth.  Vickie is a hands-on HR professional with over 20 years of HR management experience working in the fields of staffing, web design, and insurance. She has a BS in Human Resources and is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR, SHRM-SCP).

A native to Richmond, Va., Vickie is an enthusiastic member of the community and enjoys all that Richmond has to offer (when she is not binging on Netflix).

Nick Runge
Director of Operations

With an eclectic background in retail, accounting, and a stint as a software systems analyst, Nick Runge is now director of operations for Averhealth where he is passionate about solving customer and operations challenges. He began with Averhealth six years ago as an area manager for Missouri, and now directs a team of area and regional managers for Averhealth sites across the U.S.

Nick has a knack for managing large teams of people and moving up quickly in organizations where he’s worked. A native of St. Louis, he has lived all over Europe and has traveled all around the U.S. When he’s not out riding his Harley, Nick enjoys doing home improvement projects.

Ken Freedman, MD, FACP, DFASAM, AGAF
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Ken Freedman is Averhealth’s Chief Medical Officer.  He also serves as Medical Director, SE Territory for Aetna CVS Health.  

Previously Dr. Freedman was Chief Medical Officer of Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Boston, an urban inpatient teaching facility that cares for many patients with substance use disorders. He educated the next generation of health care providers through his roles as Clinical Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and Adjunct Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.

Ken’s professional background includes academic, private practice, government, private non-profit, managed care, consulting, teaching, and training. He is board certified in addiction medicine, internal medicine and gastroenterology. Ken is an active member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine where he serves as New England’s Regional Director and Treasurer-elect. He serves on the national Finance and Ethics committees, and the Quality Improvement Council. He is a member of American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and American Gastroenterological Association. Ken earned a Bachelor of Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Science from Stanford, a Doctor of Medicine from Tel Aviv University, and a health care focused Master of Business Administration from University of Hartford. When he isn’t traveling or visiting art museums, Ken lives in Delray Beach, FL with his spouse and Shih Tzu.

Michele Glinn, PhD, F-ABFT
Director of Lab Services

Dr. Michele Glinn serves as the laboratory director for Averhealth’s toxicology lab in St. Louis where she oversees screening and confirmation testing for judicial customers and health care providers. She is an adjunct professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, a fellow of the American Board of Forensic Toxicology, a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences Standards Board, and has served as vice president, president and past-president of the Midwestern Association for Toxicology and Therapeutic Drug Monitoring.

Michele is a native of Detroit, Michigan. She received a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and a PhD in biochemistry from Wayne State University, where her field of specialization was substrate metabolism and its relationship to neurochemical diseases. She spent several years at Eli Lilly in Indianapolis as a postdoctoral and visiting scientist, then served as assistant director of the Indiana State Department of Toxicology where she helped administer statewide breath alcohol and drug testing programs. Michele spent 12 years with the Michigan State Police toxicology unit as the supervisor and program coordinator of the Lansing laboratory. Prior to joining Averhealth, she served as laboratory director for Timberlands (formerly Essential) Testing LLC.
